Overview

The role

We are looking for a professional and outgoing PMO/Account Director from a Social/digital agency background to join our new in-house content studio for a tobacco client. The person will be very familiar with all aspects of the digital marketing mix. The candidate will become one of the Project Managers in the Content Studio which as an integral part of a client value stream team where many different client capabilities are represented. The person will develop effective relationships with all stakeholders to create best possible outcome. The candidate will take the lead on project planning in an agile way and navigate all parties to deliver against the plan.

The candidate will work closely with the client but also with the strategy and creative teams of the content studio to ensure we are delivering best-in-class digital and offline content, helping to build the brand, making it more relevant for consumers and thus creating campaigns that standout for the client. We are looking for an integrated thinker, well versed in the strategic discipline of online and offline marketing in Japan, who puts the consumer at the heart of everything she or he does. 

The role will suit somebody commercially savvy, able to advise requests into requirements for campaigns & content, project management skills, familiar with Japan media ecosystem and understands the platform speak; Is familiar with how content work online/ offline.

  • Understanding of client’s business and objectives and the challenges facing the tobacco client and how to overcome them in the modern digital comms landscape
  • Project planning in an agile way
  • Understands the time it takes for end-to-end project delivery (especially for social and digital) and manages client expectations around these
  • Partners with digital and social strategists to shape briefs
  • Progressive relations with media partners and third parties to identify right channels and set path for best possible creative opportunities
  • Ensures continuity and consistency of comms through the end-to-end customer journey
  • Has an awareness of brand and design guidelines, ensuring that creative is fit for purpose and optimised for each channel
  • Navigates feedback from regulators and stakeholders and protects work
  • Fluent around all digital production techniques, quick to learn and lead multi- faceted ones
  • Leads by example, and is able to adapt the speed of the work of the team necessary to deliver high quality outputs even if time is tight
  • Understands scope of work, fee and contract to help deliver maximum revenue for agency services
  • Tight cost control & supports team in pro-active management of WIP/cash-flow
  • Sees and seeks opportunities for growth

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Required

  • 8 years of experience in agencies with focus on digital work from which 4 years of experience in a leadership role like Account Director or Program Director
  • Commercially savvy
  • Able to advise requests into requirements for campaign & content
  • Project management
  • Familiar with Japan media ecosystem, understands the platform speak
  • Familiar with how content works online/ offline
  • Good judgement on when to manage upwards, downwards & across disciplines
  • Good commercial awareness of the industry and clients regulated operating environment
  • Is able to shape strategy and understand the roles of each channel within the campaign eco-system for Japan to drive customers to take the desired action
  • Has a clear view of how data processes and segmentation works and how this influences and determines the strategy
  • Understands the role test and learn plays in optimising campaign effectiveness
  • Isn’t afraid to challenge but knows which battles to fight when it comes to protecting work
  • Adept at connecting creative ideas across disparate digital channels
