Group Account Director (GAD) is a business leadership role among different stakeholders, including clients, management team, creative, and cross capabilities across advertising, brand and content, PR, and influence. He/she is a key driver of the business stability as well as identifying growth opportunities across the capabilities mentioned above.

The role is critical to the success of the business. The person must be capable of helping to deliver the strategy, specifically developing best practices typically for a range of clients under the direct responsibility of this person.

The GAD is responsible for the overall delivery of an assigned pool of Clients. He/she manages a team of client servicing and project management people that are tasked with the day-to-day projects of the clients. The GAD is responsible for assuring timely on-brief delivery while providing strategic counsel to clients beyond advertising.

A pivotal position within the business combining an ability to manage the challenges of growing a portfolio of accounts whilst juggling the responsibilities of business development and client servicing roles.

 

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Leadership

  • With the line manager (CEO and Managing Director), responsible for achieving total revenues and direct contribution to accounts under your control
  • With the line manager, support the development of the yearly business plan and monthly dialogue reports for all key accounts
  • Work with the relevant parties to deliver financial targets and control costs
  • Independently and in-partnership with the appropriate Ogilvy and WPP partners around the world to develop, refine and implement business development strategy
  • Manage and ensure quality of our services to clients
  • Management and handling of key client briefs, projects and requests.
  • Typical day-to-day management of clients and their requests including presentations, documentation, client activity administration, etc.
  • Present and pitch our services to potential clients in a competitive context
  • Support line manager in developing initiatives and new business opportunities
  • Maintain high-level contacts within business and industry relations
  • Handle sensitive topics and provide issue management consulting
  • Uphold the reputation of Ogilvy and Bates Chi across industry practitioners

Strategy Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership as the brand custodian to key Clients, this requires the GAD to have strategic planning capabilities, including brand planning, digital engagement planning, communication planning, etc.
  • Understand industry/market trends and the success metrics critical to maintaining the organization’s competitive advantage.
  • Understand the offerings of the 5 Capabilities of the Ogilvy Group.
  • Modify and adapt pragmatic business solutions based on changing business climates.

Creative Leadership

  • Inspire, drive, and facilitate an environment that thrive on producing participative ideas that are built with talkability and engagement.
  • Earn the trust and respect of creative colleagues and partners across functions.
  • Master in the art of selling creative communication solutions and ideas to clients.
  • Help to ensure execution of the highest quality.

People Leadership

  • Identify and retain good talents.
  • Lead by example in inspiring a team to strive to make thing better for everyone

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in IMC / marketing / communications / advertising / new media
  • 8+ years of experience in communications or industry-related field
  • Excellence in leadership
  • Business building experience within the industry
  • Mastery of verbal and presentation skills with the ability to speak knowledgably with high level executives
  • Organized and dedicated; proactive and enthusiastic with an ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge of working software
