Client Management
- Be a partner of client, looking at same direction, facing issues at same level to establish trustful relationship with clients
- Work tirelessly with delivery teams and clients to guarantee the quality of deliverables
- Work should be hands-on to ensure its quality of output
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the marketplace and our client’s business including various media and distribution channels
- Proactive engagement with senior and mid level clients to improve existing services, in order to drive profitable client relationships
- Management and handling of key client briefs, projects and requests, including the refinement of the above, while being congnizant of the political climate facing clients
- Typical day-to-day management of clients and their requests including presentations, documentation, client activity administration, etc.
- Key person supervising the excellence of projects; effectively manage and interpret client feedback; guide/lead Account Managers and Account Executives, and relevant internal/external team members to implement projects smoothly and effectively
- Find opportunities within existing clients to deepen relationships
- Financial control of billings and 3rd party costs, regular update to both client and internal finance team with forecast
- Resolve issues for clients, know when to step in, and protect team issues caused by GOJ or even by clients
- Cultivate high-level contacts within business and industry relations
- Lead major offline activities/events and overall quality control
- Proactively participation to pitches when required in at least two pitches a year
- Be up to date with both the agency’s and industry’s best practices and translate that into actions
Strategy
- Provide account planning and strategic support to key clients
- Help guide clients with communication planning within GOJ but also as part of an IMC/multiple agency relationship
- Fights to ensure brand-building ideas that translate into great work, ensuring that all strategy is understood by discipline teams
- Understand industry/market trends and the success factors critical to the organization’s long-term sustainability and competitiveness
- Ensure that teams are using the right strategy resouces, knowing when to pull in brand planning, a digital strategist or technologist, or key players from any other disciplies to form multidiscipline teams around a common client challenge
Creative Leadership
- Drive the right Client briefs for internal stakeholders, mainly strategy, creative and delivery teams
- Take ownership of the quality of creative responses in conjunction with Creative Director
- Ensure creative team motivation and working processes
- Oversee project briefings (both written & actual briefing) & client approval
- Provide creative judgement
Leadership & People Management
- You are THE account leader, go-to person, responsible for managing a broad team of account management
- Be the first stop in resolving problems raised by Account Managers and Executive
- Work with BD/GAD to project future account team personnel requirements and overcome any existing issues
- Take ownership of all projects, lead by example, and clearly demonstrate to other domains expectations from them and the client
- You are a partner: demonstrate partnership to program management teams and other counterparts, not just only GOJ internal team members, but also partner WPP agencies or production house
- You are a mentor: take an active interest in the needs and career paths of team members, provide them feedback, and make assignments that give them opportunities to grow
- Abide by the WPP code of business conduct
Language Capability: Fluent or Native in both English and Japanese in order to ensure smooth communication to various stakeholders
- 6+ years of experience in communications or related field; industry experience preferred
- Team-leading experience
- Excellent writing skills, strong presentation capabilities (proven media relations skills)
- Strong verbal and presentation skills with the ability to speak knowledgably with high level executives internally and with Clients
- Detail-oriented, organized and dedicated; proactive and enthusiastic with an ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines; a quick learner
- Advanced knowledge of working software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Significant experience in all 360 practices (digital, web, mobile, social, brand strategy, UX, Video, Content, TV, Print, OOH, Media, etc)
- Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree with a major in marketing, communications, advertisement, media, digital, public relations, etc.
